Here’s a brief discussion of what we had with her about her start-up.

So, all of this started with an introduction to which she said, “I belong to Deoghar, Jharkhand & as my father was an employee of the government of Jharkhand, I traveled the most part of Bihar & Jharkhand with him while growing up. I always wanted to build a career into something related to designing as I was very much passionate about it. So, I opted for NIFT and completed my fashion designing from NIFT Kolkata. After graduating I worked with kids wear brand Gini & Jony (as head of design) in Mumbai, Levi’s ®, Peppermint kids, RSWM. After my career in the corporate world, I wanted to have time for myself wherein I could manage my home and work together”.

When asked, “What is BULBULI HANDCRAFTED all about?”

She said, “BULBULI HANDCRAFTED is a home decor LLP firm which provides a platform where art and utility combine to make handcrafted utility art and decor, and in the process, we generate employment for women from different socio-economic backgrounds.

In other words, I would say, we provide all sorts of exclusive home décor solutions. One can buy from the vast range of products that we have or get things customized. You can contact us online. We deliver all across the country. We specialize in decorative wall plates, lamps, coasters, trays, canvas paintings etc. We do corporate gifts and wall paintings for commercial spaces as well”.

Heading towards the next question we asked her about how did this idea strike her mind to bring out her passion into her profession?

To which she answered, “I was very much passionate about designs and decor. After getting married when I was in the USA with my husband and was expecting my daughter I used to paint for myself. I started getting praised from family & friends. Even started getting some orders.  So when I returned to India I and my sister-in-law, who is also my partner in the business, discussed how we can formalize it. We got the LLP registered in Ranchi in 2015. Things followed and as we say, rest is history”.

Q – What’s the reason this company holds a special place in your heart?

She replied, “This work provides me with immense pleasure as it has always been my passion. Moreover, it feels very satisfying when you can generate employment and carry out the business to make it profitable with a very cost-effective product line”.

Being asked about the achievements that Bulbuli Handcrafted has had until now, Shubha Said, “We have been privileged to exhibit for the beti-bachao-beti-padhao launch campaign. We have been the art partners for IOCL, Panipat Guest house. We have held various solo and group exhibitions including one in Ranchi”.

On asking about the Medium of sale that Shubha said, “Social media and digital reach has been the wind beneath Bulbuli’s wings. We have been constantly in terms with all the social media platforms like Facebook/Instagram/Twitter/Pinterest etc that has helped us reach a vast audience, even internationally. We have our own website and we are in process of collaborating with other e-commerce majors like Amazon and Flipkart. We entertain all the queries that clients have personally through immediate chats”.

Shubha further added that Bulbuli strives on teamwork. Every member is equally important, be it the co-founders or artists or the packaging/delivery people. We believe in training people. Everyone has some skill or the other. We identify that strength in them and assign duty accordingly. And we swear by the quality that we offer to our clients. Our major area of backend operations has been Ranchi, Delhi NCR, Gurgaon, Panipat and we will be opening our branch office in Bangalore shortly.
